Skye – New Spirit # 0572 ADOPTED

Skye - New Spirit 0572

Well, hello there! Are you perhaps interested in a beautiful white Aussie like me? My name is Skye…perhaps they named me that because my eyes are a beautiful blue, you know, like the sky on a clear day?

I have been traveling, that’s for sure. I was discovered in a shelter in Traverse City, MI, and am now staying in Greyslake, IL…that is until I find my forever home. This traveling sure wears me out. Traverse City is a great play for tourists, but trust me, the shelter there is not a place you want to check in at for any extended time!

Problem is, I am a double merle/lethal white (something to do when 2 blue or red merles are your Mom and Dad, who knew?). I am not deaf, like many double merles and I see just fine, though I have something called “tunnel vision” in my one eye, the other is fine. I don’t see any tunnels, but maybe you have one?!

I love people, stuffed toys, you name it! I am happy all day long and wag this big tail of mine constantly just so you know I appreciate everything you are doing for me. I weigh 35 pounds, and am heartworm negative. If you are looking for a wonderful Lady in a nice white dress to go on walks with, or throw a ball for then look no further, here I am!

Contact my Dad, I mean my sponsor, David Thurman by email at david.e.thurman@gmail.com He would love to talk to you about me, just call after 5 PM if you are calling.

Terra – New Spirit # 0571 ADOPTED!

Terra - New Spirit 0571

Excuse me…over here…I am the one sitting in the corner. Pssttt…can I whisper in your ear? I am a bit shy so you will need to listen closely….

My name is Terra, and I am a 4 month old red-tri female. I came to New Spirit from what looks like a puppy mill in Missouri. Have you heard about those puppy mills? Not a good place. There was no one there to love me, so I just stayed in a corner most of the day where I felt safe.

But things are looking up. Now I am in Mundelein, IL and these really great people are helping me search for a forever home. They tell me that there I will have a person to cuddle up with, and give kisses to. I can’t wait!! I enjoy bones, and other dogs, and I am getting to know the people here so that is all good too. I am told they have another puppy coming! I can’t wait to tell her all about my plans for a new family, where I want my bed, what color collar to get me, what toys I will like the best, and I sure hope I get a big brother or big sister! I am so excited that New Spirit said they would help me find a new home.

NS 0790 KayCee Blue Merle Lethal White Female Australian Shepherd Minnesota

KayCee is a gorgeous 2yo Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix female. She’s a stocky 40lbs and even though she can appear to be laid back and lazy, she’s got a NOS button hidden under her soft, curly coat!

[frame_center src="http://www.aussierescueil.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/kc-400x330.jpg" href="http://www.aussierescueil.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/kc.jpeg"]NS 0790 KayCee[/frame_center]

KayCee has excellent house manners and settles down very well. She will lay at your feet and nap and follow you around the house. She does not appear interested in getting up on the furniture. She will jump up when invited, but doesnt stick around too long. She’d rather hang on the floor. KayCee has pretty pricked ears and a docked tail. Her coat is so soft and her curls give her a very unique look! Her fuzzy butt wiggles anytime she’s happy!

[frame_center src="http://www.aussierescueil.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/kc1-400x306.jpg" href="http://www.aussierescueil.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/kc1.jpeg"]NS 0790 KayCee[/frame_center]

[frame_center src="http://www.aussierescueil.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/kc2-400x300.jpg" href="http://www.aussierescueil.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/kc2.jpeg"]NS 0790 KayCee[/frame_center]

KayCee is likely the result of a double merle breeding, which has left her deaf. But her eyesight is fine and she gets along like any normal dog! KayCee gets along fine with most other dogs, though she seems to think she needs to be the alpha. I dont think she was taught much social behavior prior to coming into New Spirit, but she’s learning.

[frame_center src="http://www.aussierescueil.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/kc3-400x288.jpg" href="http://www.aussierescueil.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/kc3.jpeg"]NS 0790 KayCee[/frame_center]

She is currently fostering with 5 other dogs and as long as she is kept in check by her foster mom, she does fine with all of them. She loves to play and wrestle with the resident Corgi! She is even good with the cat! KayCee gets along well with dog savvy children. She is housebroken and crate trained and doesnt bark in her crate. In fact we rarely hear a peep from her! She does not appreciate other dogs getting near her food dish, but is fine when humans take the bowl or food from her. She’s got a natural herding ability and could really flourish if given a job of herding stock!

KayCee’s current form of structured exercise consists of daily walks and runs next to a bicycle. She caught on to this extremely quickly! She has excellent leash manners and doesnt pull.

She’s pretty quiet for the most part. KayCee is fostering in Blooming Prairie Minnesota. To adopt this girl, complete an application at New Spirit 4 Aussie Rescue. Reference NS 0790.

Meet Splash (Protege #0147) ADOPTED

Meet Splash (Protege #0147)!

Meet Splash (Protege #0147)!

Splash was given her name when she came into rescue because she looks like someone splashed white paint on her face. But since being in her foster home, We’ve come to think of it being an accurate name for her because wherever she goes she makes a big splash!

Splash is a flashy black-tri color Miniataure Australian Shepherd. In addition to wanting to play, Splash wants to be wherever you are. She loves to be your shadow around the house, and loves notrhing more than the opportunity to lay across your lap after playing for some cuddle time.

Splash had a bumpy first week in her foster home. We suspect that because she didn’t have toys and a lot of attention at her previous home, she so loves having these things that at times during the first week she would bare her teeth and snarl at the resident dogs at her foster home. As the week progressed and she learned that there are plenty of love and toys to go around, these behaviors have subsided, and she now thoroughly enjoys playing with the other 4 dogs in the foster home, and is respectful of the resident cats as well.

Splash enjoys going to doggie daycare with her foster mom, where she has a blast playing with the other dogs, and wraps the daycare staff around her little paw with her adorable face and sweet nature. Splash had not been on a leash much prior to arrival in foster care, but has quickly learned how it works. She is most comfortable going potty off leash in a fenced yard, but is learning more every day how to potty when she is on leash as well.

Because of her desire to be with you at all times, she has a tendency to try to slip out the door with you any time you go outside, so we are working on not going through the outside door until she is told it’s okay. Splash is crate trained, and able to sleep quietly through the night, or while you are away. If she is in her crate and she can see you, she will cry for a bit, but will stop if ignored. Splash is a fun loving and affectionate little miss storing up a whole lot of love for her new forever family.

Here are a couple of videos of Splash playing:

Splash is around 1 year old, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, and on preventatives. If you might be interested in learning more about Splash, please contact Jayne at mcjayne@yahoo.com.

Gypsy Private Referral Iowa

Gypsy

Gypsy

Gypsy is a 5 ½ year old, 18 lb. pure bred Miniature Australian Shepherd from a reputable breeder of champion showdogs. She is an absolute sweetheart who has been spayed and micro-chipped. She is housebroken, electric fence trained, and listens well to commands: stay, sit, come, crate, down. When she wants to go to the bathroom, she will wait by the door.

Gypsy was raised around children, as well as a cat and another dog, and gets along great with all of them! She will bark if someone comes to the door, and likes to greet people when they come in! She is only territorial when she perceives a threat, and if the kids wrestle or get in a fight, she does jump in and grab pantlegs to get people apart. She is sweet and obedient and loves affection and is more submissive than dominant, but very playful and likes to run when given the chance!

Gypsy wants to play and run more than we are able to allow her. We love this breed, and this dog in particular, but due to increasing demands on time with multiple businesses, she is not getting the exercise, play, and attention that we feel she deserves. She used to love to run and catch Frisbees, and would probably like to do that again! Gypsy has NEVER been struck, and we love her and will miss her, and want her to go where she is well loved and will be very well treated.

Gypsy has a a friend named Ginger who we are told is a Jack Russell/Pug mix, and I think they would miss each other, so if you might consider taking them as a pair, we would let Ginger go along so that they would have each other. If you are interested in Gypsy, please contact Jennie Henderson at 319-573-1075 or by email at jennifer.henderson28@yahoo.com.

Rita (Protege #0149) ADOPTED

Rita

Rita

Rita (Protege #0149) is a red-bi female Miniature Australian Shepherd who came to Protege from a breeder situation. She has a sweet face and super soft fur. After a couple of baths, she even smells great!

Rita is learning what living inside the house is all about and she is coming around nicely. This little girl is terrific with people and kids. She is a bit shy at first but after a few days, she finally decided the couch and the attention she receives when she comes out of her safe place are pretty darn sweet. Rita is doing very well at potty training. She is rather predicatable. She loves to run and jump around when she’s excited and she follows right at our heals when we move about the house.

She is rather intimidated by the 5 resident dogs but as long as she has a safe place to run to, she’ll come out and try to interact. As soon as they all get too curious though, off she goes. I do believe another dog in the home to teach Rita the ropes will be important for her. Maybe one that is a bit closer to her in size!

Rita is a great eater. She doesn’t resource guard anything. She hasn’t chewed on anything inappropriate and likes to be outside. She’s good on a long tether but her perfect home will have a fenced in yard! Rita loves dog toys: stuffed ones, rubber ones, rope tugs, balls — pretty much everything. She just started playing with my stuff yesterday and has the toy basket pretty well distributed across the house now.

She is up-to-date on shots, spayed, and in good health.

If you are the special home Rita is looking for, contact Jayne at mcjayne@yahoo.com. Rita will return the kindness and love she is given twofold and will be a loving companion for the right family! Rita is being fostered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
