Bark in WASHINGTON Park Responsible Dog Ownership Day
At the Ottawa’s Farmer’s Market
Saturday, August 14th, 2010
9:00AM to NOON

New Spirit 4 Aussie Rescue will be there with a booth, we will be selling treats and magnets, bandanas and cupcakes, and the most important item, we will be selling more Aussie Kisses!

  • Fund Raisers, raffles, merchandise to buy
  • Games to play with your dog
  • Healing Essentials for Pets & People
  • K9PawPrints
  • Micro-chip booth
  • Practice Agility Course
  • Practice Rally-O course
  • Safety first
  • Bring plastic bags to clean up after your dog if necessary
  • Leave the park the way you found it.
  • Respect each other’s space. Don’t crowd the dog next to you. Some dogs don’t like their space invaded.
  • Watch your children around dogs you have not met.
  • All dogs must be on a leash with their current rabies tag attached.
  • Flexi-leashes are not recommended in an event like this.
  • Have fun.

Meet Sundown (Sage) a very happy, active almost 2 year old female Australian Shepherd who is a black tri. She is great with kids, though she will try to herd them. She is good in a car and walks well on a leash. She knows some commands and is okay with other dogs, in a neutral area, in other words good at the dog park, but probably should be the only dog in the home.

Sundown is ready for the forever home she so deserves. She will play with toys all day and is eager to please. She is a bit velcro so expect her to follow you everywhere you go.

ADOPTED! NS 0622 Topeka (Duke) Red Merle Deaf Male Australian Shepherd

Meet Topeka, he is a 2 year old red merle male, who is deaf. Topeka is on the smaller side, but that just allows him to sit more comfortably in your lap. Topeka loves to cuddle.

Topeka weighs about 35 pounds, he is housebroken. He walks well on a leash, and even though he is deaf, he has learn hand signals such as come, sit, down, wait, shake and just learned roll over. Topeka is a pleaser Aussie. Topeka also likes other dogs, tolerates cats and has met children in the neighborhood and has been great.

Topeka is being fostered in the Winthrop Harbor IL area, and is awaiting a family that wants to give this happy, special boy a forever home and teach him more hand signals. We would prefer you have a friendly dog in your home already as most deaf dogs do well with a companion that hears for them.

We changed the look of the site over the weekend, as well as are testing our mobile version as well m.aussierescueil.com to see how this all blends together. We are working on some minor bugs and formatting changes.

We also are looking to add more articles on what is an Aussie, and how to care for your Aussie.
