Meet Bono, a 1 year old black tri Australian Shepherd who for no fault of his own came to our rescue. His owner said they couldn’t care and afford him anymore, he had a rash, and he was thought to have those nasty worms.

Once we settled Bono in and got him tested for worms, as well as we had him neutered, all the first week of his arrival and to find he had Giardia. With the nasty bug and his neuter surgery, his foster mom noticed he was very sluggish and not as active as he should be, even with all his ailments. We recommend he head in for a checkup. We were expecting the worst, and hoping for the best, but we got the worst.

Bono needs a total hip replacement, both hips, and it will be expensive. He is a great dog, he is considerate of all dogs he meets, he wants to run and play, but without any actual hip sockets, he struggles and wears out quickly. We are going to proceed with this surgery and give this boy a normal life.

Meet Hadlee, sister to Faythe, who came in from a long drive from North Platte Nebraska. Hadlee is 8-10 weeks old and is deaf and partially blind. Sadly both were found as strays along the side of a highway. She will need a home that will give her all the love and attention you can give, and she will give even more in return. We have adopted out a few blind Aussies, and honestly, they get along like any other dogs. Hadlee and her sister are settling in just fine at their new foster home. Both girls love to play with each other and all the other dogs and animals in the home, cat included, and they also get along great with the family guard Guinee Pig! Both girls play with the kids in the home and are well on their way to potty training.

Meet Faythe and her sister Handlee, she took a nice long road trip from North Platte Nebraska. She is an 8-10 week old blue merle Australian Shepherd who is deaf. Sadly both were found as strays along the side of a highway. Both are in their foster home and checked out for all the things a regular puppy needs, and they are doing great! They play all the time and get along well with other dogs, kids of all sizes and the family cat. Even the Guinea Pig is safe when they are around.

Meet Seneca, a beautiful black trio female Australian Shepherd. Seneca is around 25-30 pounds, she is around 8 months old and she will probably be on the smaller side of an Aussie when she grows up.

Seneca has just arrived and we are discovering more about her each day, so far she loves to be next to her human, she is what we call a very velcro dog. She plays well with her foster brother and sisters, and she loves the dog park. Seneca will crate well but prefers to sleep in bed with her foster dad, he is spoiling her we know.

Meet little Nevaeh, Heaven spelled backwards. Nev is a deaf Australian Shepherd who weighs around 25 pounds, is around a year and a half old and is always busy and always happy. Nevaeh loves to play all the time, she will pretty much do anything for a tennis ball, so she is more tennis ball motivated then treat, but she loves those too.

Nevaeh is learning how to walk on a leash, she is pretty much housebroken, it’s more of a deal that she plays so hard that she forgets she needs to go the bathroom, but the tennis balls are working and she is learning that potty outside is how she gets her tennis ball. She will crate, though she is fine at night. Once she is in the swing she probably won’t even need to be crated.

Nevaeh plays well with other dogs, she might take a day to warm up, but once she is she is fine. She rides well in a car, though since she is deaf, we would always recommend a harness/seatbelt or a crate. Honestly all dogs need secured when in a car.

Meet Timothy. Timothy is a 12 year old blue merle Aussie mix who spent 10 years of his life dedicated to an elderly lady, being her ears and her companion thru a service dog organization. He told her when the phone was ringing, when someone knocked at the door, when an alarm would be sounding, anything that she couldn’t do, Timothy did.

He is now coming into New Spirit 4 Aussie Rescue and after a small period he will be up for adoption.

Meet Ozzie, Ozzie is a black tri Australian Shepherd Male a little over 1 year old and weighs around 50 pounds. Ozzie is currently living in Clawson Michigan and is up for adoption. Cicso (ADOPTED) the father is two to three years old, and only eleven pounds. Squirt, his son, is four to five months old, and three to four pounds.
These guys were found as strays together. It’s obvious they were someone’s pets. Cicso (ADOPTED) already knows the command sit. His son Squirt is snugly sweet and gentle – just like his dad. They are crate-trained and working on their housebreaking.

Our little girl Shayla who was shot, then attacked when she went to a farm house for help, has been battling to save the back leg that was shot. After a long journey across Iowa that spring day bank in May, to now, we are still in a struggle to keep her as a 4-legged little girl.

We have put Shayla through numerous surgeries to try to save her leg, she has been in a cast for almost 12 weeks, but the latest X-rays didn’t look promising, infect there seemed to be no bone growth at all, this whole time she has been great and runs and plays with her sisters as if she was 100%.

So now we come to a crossroads with Shayla, our next option is to remove her leg, but we also know once it’s gone, it’s gone for good, so being the optimist we are, and her doctor feeling she has a chance, performed a new procedure this week. They are trying to revitalize the bone ends, they have put a ceramic brace around her leg to restrict any and all movement.

Meet one of the smartest Aussies we know, Qorban (aka Quincy ME) is coming to Illinois after he was adopted at the young age of 9 months old, and from there he went to earn the honors of being a therapy dog, he was top in his class. Qorban got into some trouble though, you see he was left to his onw mischief and started to chase the cattle on the farm down the road, surprise, surprise, surprise! So we are going to have to say he can’t be in a home that has any cows, we know this is a tough one for many of you, but that is what we decided.

Qorban is around 50 pounds, he is now 3 years old and he is deaf, but he knows all his commands, and is house-trained and crate trained. Qorban rides great in a car, though he will tell you from time to time where to go, so we suggest he rife in the backseat. Qorban also walks great on a leash. Since Qorban was therapy certified, he would probably excel back in that role again.

The rescue we received him from had him with 6 other males and he never caused a fight or displayed any aggression. He is what we call a perfect dog, minus the hearing issue, but he makes up for it with lots of love and kisses.

Meet someone that just doesn’t know he is considered a special needs boy. Aenon (Ace for short) is one happy camper. He loves to play and play and play and play and play, did I mention he loves to play? Ace is in a home with 2 other adult dogs and 2 other lethal white puppies (10 wks old) and they all love life.

Aenon (Ace) is around 20 pounds at the moment, but we expect him once he is past that lanky puppy phase to be around 45-50 pounds all grown up. He will need to be neutered once he is old enough, but don’t worry, we will still let him find a forever home, and we will even cover his vetting (thru one of our approve vet offices) and he will need his rabies shot at 6 months old as well, again we will cover that expense.

Ace is working on his potty rules and doing well, he will use his crate (he sleeps through the night) and is working on his leash manners. He loves the car as well. Since Ace is a lethal white (the result of a Merle to Merle breeding) he is deaf, but he is also working on his hand signals, he already knows sit and down, and is currently in his puppy classes with his other foster sisters to learn even more commands.

Meet Bono, our 6 month old black tri male, who is already going to be a large boy at 60 pounds already. Bono is already house broken, rides well in a car and gets along with everyone he meets. Bono was dealing with a little bug but is already on the mend and ready for a forever home.

Bono is doing some training on leash, but is taking to commands very well, he gets along with the his foster cat, he gets along great with his foster brothers the dogs, and loves all kinds of people. Bono also is crate trained and up to date on all his shots and even his neutering, or as some will say, his tutoring.

EZ Ryder is a 18 month old stock merle Aussie/Catahoula mix male. He’s got mesmerizing ice blue eyes and a gorgeous full tail. This dog is built like a Greyhound (lanky); he’s got the beauty of an Aussie and the attitude of a Catahoula! What a package! Hamul came to us weighing 20 pounds more then he should and his foster mom decided he was on the New Spirit Biggest Loser program. His foster mom started him on walks and lots of swimming over the summer. With his foster sister Lacey and his foster mom keeping him active, Hamul has lost almost 16 pounds and it shows, he is also growing back his beautiful coat. Hamul is one of those long, thick coated Aussies.

Hamul also loves to ride in the car, and walk on the leash. Hamul knows a few commands and is completely house-broken. He also will use a crate but his foster mom trusts him so well that a crate is the last place he needs to go.

This 10 year old Black and White Australian Shepherd female with a docked tail is lost in Glen Ellyn Illinois now back with her foster mom! She was just brought home and her foster mom said she bolted from the yard and just kept running. She is timid and nervous from just coming into rescue, but very friendly.
