Swan is being taught to walk on a leash better, but rides well in a car, she does chase the cat and seems to find it fun to play keep away from her foster family (we are working on that) but she is a loving girl (on her terms of course) and plays very well with other dogs, again her hi pre drive finds her playing very rough for a girl.

Meet Abila, she is a 3 year old black tri Australian Shepherd, she weighs around 40-45 pounds and is completely housebroken. Abila’s foster mom says she is not one to make a fuse at people coming to the door.

Abila can jump and was actually caught doing a single leap out of a 6ft high kennel, though in the yard she doesn’t try to jump the fence. She also rides well in a car and walks on a leash, though she will tug a little. Walks in the pasture find her always keeping her eye on her foster family and always runs back to them when called.

Breezy is a 36 pound red tri female about 2 years old. She is completely housebroken but is crated during the day while her foster parents are at work. She has the run of the house when they are home and at night. She gets along wonderfully with her foster siblings: an eight year old male Flat Coat/Gordon Setter mix, a 5 year old female Aussie and a 4 year old male Main Coon mix cat.

Breezy is a very high energy dog and loves lots of activity like long walks and will play fetch until she drops. Her absolute favorite toy is a tennis ball. She is willing to play anytime anywhere but she also understands when play time is over and will settle down very quickly. Her foster mom has been working with her in basic agility, fly ball and rally obedience to keep her mentally and physically challenged. She is smart, very treat motivated and willing to learn anything you take the time to teach her. Breezy has even learned to jog on the treadmill.

She has perfect house manners and other than following you like a shadow, you would never know she was there. Breezy walks well on a leash and loves to ride in the car. She willingly jumps in to go where ever you are going. She is not food, toy or crate possessive. She knows all her basic commands, sit, stay, down, come, shake, leave it and wait. Outside the home Breezy has never met a stranger; she accepts people and animals alike. Inside the home, her foster family is working on her trust issues with men.

While she likes her foster dad, she likes him best seated or lying on the floor as standing intimidates her a bit. Meet Adah our little Texas girl, at 10 weeks old and a blue merle Australian Shepherd female, she was brought all the way after the major blizzard of 2011. She is growing into a great little girl, she is a little bossy, and she loves to lay in your lap. Adah is in a home with her other sister Cana and another puppy named Onyx. They all play perfect together.

We have been working on her socialization skills and she is an ace! With a 12 year old girl in the home and all her friends, well Adah is great at all the girl sleep-overs and even we think has picked up on some girl talk and has learned how to text with her paws.

Meet Roy Hinkley who came to New Spirit along with his sister Gianna. Roy is around 45 pounds and 8 months old. Both lived their lives in a kennel outside, in the bitter cold of Kansas. Even with living outdoors, Roy was almost instantly house broken. He and his sister are instant learners.

Meet Eddie – an all-around awesome family Australian Shepherd! Eddie loves to play, yet is not aggressive or overly playful. He’s a medium size guy with an extra large personality! He is an extremely loyal family friend yet has no anxiety and is completely trusted while the family is out to freely roam the house. He has great puppy dog manners such as knowing and listening to basic commands, being gentle/fun with visitors, cats, and other dogs. It was originally thought that since Eddie is whats known as a double merle Aussie, he could be deaf. But his foster mom reports that he can hear her calling for him from a different floor of the house! So while he got the lethal coloring, his vision and hearing are just fine! As for his business, he’ll bark to let you know it is time to go outside, and does not have accidents in the house.

At bedtime he prefers to sleep as close to his family as he can – by the bed, in the bed, near the bedroom door – wherever you will let him – just as long as he knows he is part of the clan!
Eddie appears to have been very well loved and trained from wherever he has came from, and is very much loved in his foster home here! If all this were not enough, you should hear all the compliments he gets on his beautiful coat, cute expressive face, and his A + personality while out on walks or at the pet store. Meet Embry a dynamic 2 year old blue merle male Australian Shepherd who weighs around 40 pounds. Embry is a merle to merle or what is referred to as a Lethal White Aussie. He is deaf, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying life and making his foster family smile at his antics.

He is house broken and does well on a leash. He gets along great with other dogs and he is always wiggling his butt. Embry is currently learning his sign language and we would hope he goes to a home with another dog, an Aussie would be great, that can act as his ears.
