Topeka NS 0622

Meet Topeka, he is a 2 year old red merle male, who is deaf. Topeka is on the smaller side, but that just allows him to sit more comfortably in your lap. Topeka loves to cuddle.

Topeka weighs about 35 pounds, he is housebroken. He walks well on a leash, and even though he is deaf, he has learn hand signals such as come, sit, down, wait, shake and just learned roll over. Topeka is a pleaser Aussie. Topeka also likes other dogs, tolerates cats and has met children in the neighborhood and has been great.

Topeka NS 0622

Topeka is being fostered in the Winthrop Harbor IL area, and is awaiting a family that wants to give this happy, special boy a forever home and teach him more hand signals. We would prefer you have a friendly dog in your home already as most deaf dogs do well with a companion that hears for them.

Dot (NS 0580)

Meet Dot (Collette), she is said to be around 7 or 8, she has been to a groomer for a new start hairdo and is already growing out soft and white.

Dot is a blue merle, but is also what is called a lethal white, the product of two merle parents. Some of the puppies, like Dot, will be mainly white and often have hearing or vision deficits. Dot is deaf, but sees just fine with her beautiful blue eyes. She knows some hand signals and is learning more as she finds her trust with her foster mom and dad.

Dot doesn’t need crated, and normally sleeps in the kitchen of family room. She is thunderphobic, but not in a destructive way.

Dot (NS 0580)

Dot is very laid back, will not cause issues with her other dog mates, she ignores cats in the home, and she will be fine with just laying at your feet. She is a very undemanding girl. She is house trained and has actually taken to helping another special needs dog in the home get around, a blind friend that is said to stick to her side at all times.

To adopt this white piece of velcro, who is currently in the Chicagoland area, complete an application at New Spirit. Reference NS 0580

Shane 6 month old Aussie

Shane is 6 months old, UTD on shots, neutered, housetrained, special needs (deaf)

Shane is a friendly, playful, fluff ball!!! He is one of the most adorable puppies you will meet. Shane is a purebred Aussie puppy, born 10/31/2009, with a beautiful soft coat and a short tail. Shane thinks everyone should be his friend, young old and in between. He is great with cats and enjoys playing with the other dogs, romping in the backyard and playing fetch. He is very well behaved and laid back, especially for a puppy. Shane rarely barks, doesn’t jump up on people, and is wonderful in a crate. He will lay by your feet when you sit, and loves going anywhere with you. He doesn’t pull on a leash (but does tend to wander at your side checking things out!) This handsome young man will make a wonderful companion for some lucky family.

Shane 6 month old Aussie

Shane is deaf although he doesn’t know it. He has learned lots of hand signals, and has stolen a lot of hearts. Shane is a difficult dog for us, he is so perfect that it will very hard for us to give him up. This little guy is easy going, smart, loving and wonderful in every way!!!

Shane has been neutered, wormed and is current on his puppy shots. He is housetrained, but since he is still a puppy and may find something inappropriate to chew on if he is bored, he is still crated when his family is gone. Shane’s adoption fee is $200. Please complete an adoption application at www.safesanctuary.org or call his foster mom at 612-799-2989

Skye - New Spirit 0572

Well, hello there! Are you perhaps interested in a beautiful white Aussie like me? My name is Skye…perhaps they named me that because my eyes are a beautiful blue, you know, like the sky on a clear day?

I have been traveling, that’s for sure. I was discovered in a shelter in Traverse City, MI, and am now staying in Greyslake, IL…that is until I find my forever home. This traveling sure wears me out. Traverse City is a great play for tourists, but trust me, the shelter there is not a place you want to check in at for any extended time!

Problem is, I am a double merle/lethal white (something to do when 2 blue or red merles are your Mom and Dad, who knew?). I am not deaf, like many double merles and I see just fine, though I have something called “tunnel vision” in my one eye, the other is fine. I don’t see any tunnels, but maybe you have one?!

I love people, stuffed toys, you name it! I am happy all day long and wag this big tail of mine constantly just so you know I appreciate everything you are doing for me. I weigh 35 pounds, and am heartworm negative. If you are looking for a wonderful Lady in a nice white dress to go on walks with, or throw a ball for then look no further, here I am!

Contact my Dad, I mean my sponsor, David Thurman by email at david.e.thurman {at} gmail(.)com He would love to talk to you about me, just call after 5 PM if you are calling.

All New Spirit Aussies adopters must complete and be approved to adopt an Aussie, complete an application at www.ns4ar.org/adoptproc.HTML
