Auss In Motion Lure Coursing
What happens when you take some string, a motor and a plastics bag, in a wide open space, then add a dog?
You get lots of fun – for the dogs AND their people!!!
Lure Coursing is a sport designed for sighthounds but any dog can enjoy chasing the lure! Many dogs love the thrill of the chase – not just sighthounds. It doesn’t matter if your dog is a Papillion, St. Bernard or a mix of anything in between.
If they love to chase things, they will LOVE Lure Coursing!
People are often surprised when their dogs go nuts for the lure!!
In lure coursing the “prey” is a plastic bag that moves across the field on a rope and pulley track. The course can be changed from time to time, but will typically be the same for a full day of coursing. The handler will enter the field with their dog and hold the dog while the lure operator manipulates the lure to gain the dogs attention. At the operator’s cue, the handler will release the dog to chase the lure around the open field.
Handler’s instructions are simple and easy: Manage your dog safely in and out of the field. Release your dog only on the operator’s cue. Follow the posted rules. Have fun with your friends!
We are open to all breeds of all ages. We do recommend dogs be older than 1 year of age because of the potential for injuring their growing joints. We offer this for the fun and exercise of all dogs. We use a continuous loop system to allow the “prey” to reverse direction and travel at speeds suited to match your dog’s running speed and agility. All dogs should have proper vaccinations, identification tags, and be able to return to the owner on command as well as be on leash while not running. It’s not just about chasing the lure. It’s about having fun SAFELY! Safety is our #1 rule. If we don’t think it’s safe for a dog to run – they do not run.
Conveniently located off I94 and Route 60 in the heart of Mettawa IL on 5 picturesque acres. Our course is run in a fully fenced field. Our field is mowed to give the dogs a nice even surface for running. The only dog(s) allowed in the field are the ones running the course. A dog can run alone or with a friend – it is up to the owners.
